Development of this manual was supported by HIVOS (Humanist Institute for Cooperation with Developing Countries), Coffee Research Foundation – (Now KALRO – Coffee Research Institute) and Kenya Coffee Producers Association.
The manual is meant to assist coffee producers particularly small scale coffee producers to enhance their coffee yields and quality and hence improve their livelihoods. It provides information on good agricultural practices (GAP), good manufacturing practices (GMP) and good hygienic practices (GHP) in a simplified manner.
The manual also provides in depth information on sustainable coffee farming systems and highlights important issues such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, variety conversion, diversification, soil and water conservation and certification.
